DOWN HOME TIME, comprised of BC Cameron, Dennis C. “Tennessee” Brown and Simeon Pillich, have fun doing what they do, which is play music, sing and entertain. With years of experience among them, they bring an assortment of musical genres to the stage and enjoy every minute of it. They hope that you will too. With guitars, mandolin, bass and a few instrumental surprises, they create an eclectic atmosphere that can be relaxing, touching, rowdy, nostalgic or whimsical. Add a little bit of country, a pinch of folk, a dash of bluegrass, a sprinkle of Irish, and a smidgen of 40’s to a stock broth of comedy and originals and you have the makin’s of a real good “Down Home Time.”
BC Cameron was raised in Manitou Springs, Colorado, played drums all through school, and began playing guitar and singing in high school. During the 70’s and 80’s she played ski seasons in Aspen/Snowmass, toured several other US States, Europe and Canada. A prolific songwriter, in 1975, she released a successful original single, The Saga of CB Fever and toured with her group, The Citizen Band. In 1978, she moved to Los Angeles where she recorded an album with Cliffie Stone, performed in his Hometown Jamboree, and played the Ice House in Pasadena. The Movie/TV industry took her away from music for many years. She was an Assistant Director on TV series Knot’s Landing, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Spin City and Frasier. She now works at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center as Site Rep for filming, and rides her horses. She’s a country girl at heart.
Dennis C. Brown began his career arranging music for commercials (Bank Of America, Taco Bell, Honda, Int’l House of Pancakes), then toured with Bobby Vinton, The Osmonds, and Raquel Welch. He appeared on The Dukes Of Hazzard and, with producer Snuff Garrett, played on two #1 Country hits for Shelly West and David Frizzell. After playing guitar for TV composer Mike Post, Dennis co-composed with Mike and then on his own. First came the animated TV series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, then the sitcoms Grace Under Fire (composing the score and producing Aretha Franklin singing The Beatles’ Lady Madonna as a theme), 5 years each on Dharma and Greg and Still Standing, and finally his 12th season on Two and a Half Men and 5th on Mike and Molly. Still waters run deep.
New York City native, Simeon Pillich, is of Caribbean and Croatian descent. On both upright and electric bass, he has accompanied many artists including Taylor Swift, Ziggy Marley, Dr. Dre, Tom Paxton, Bo Diddley, Al Jarreau, Eartha Kitt, John Prine, Steve Goodman, Hanson, John Hiatt, Neil Finn, Eliza Gilkyson, Anthony Newley, Alice Cooper, Vassar Clements, Burt Bacharach, Bob Gibson, Van Dyke Parks, Ry Cooder, Jennifer Warnes, Tito Puente, Rita Coolidge, Priscilla Coolidge, Jim Kweskin and Doug Kershaw. He has performed on the national tours of the Broadway hits, Rent with Neil Patrick Harris, The King & I with Yul Brynner, Bubblin’ Brown Sugar, The Wiz, Timbuktu, and Grease (with 21-year-old John Travolta as an understudy!). He is a period and ethnic music consultant for film and TV, and played on the musical scores of Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, The Two Jakes, The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, and Lucky You. Simeon played with the Ventura County and Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestras, and for five years was the host of KPFK’s “Global Village” sharing music from around the world. With a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from UCLA, he teaches world music at Occidental College and jazz history and music theory at Santa Monica College. Don’t get him started!

TOM RENAUD
Tom Renaud fell in love with the guitar early in his life, and began playing steadily at age 16. By now he’s racked up over 40 years on his chosen instrument, and has been writing songs for almost as long.
Tom started out as a teacher, but his life took a unique turn. He became a monk for 25 years, living in monastery/retreat centers in Arizona, Colorado, Nova Scotia, and Ireland. He was privileged to live in beautiful wilderness areas, developing a great love for nature’s beauty. He also worked with his hands extensively, learning construction, carpentry and woodcarving. And all the while he developed his guitar playing and wrote.
As part of his retreat work, Tom traveled around the U.S., Canada and Europe. Everywhere he went, he used his music to communicate with and uplift others. In 1998 he and his friends recorded a CD with Nova Scotian folk duo Evans and Doherty—mostly his originals. It received national airplay in Canada. In 2003 he performed his songs at the Brendan Kennelly Poetry Festival in Ireland.
In 2005 Tom left the monastery. He was married in 2008, and now teaches high school students in Lancaster, California. But music continues to be his passion and his favorite work. He performs for a wide variety of audiences. His most recent recording is “Walk Till Morning,” and he’s currently working on a CD of guitar solos.
Suggested donation options: Single Guest: $20 (includes concert and one CD from each artist); Couple: $30 (includes concert for two and one CD from each artist).
